Raksha Bandhan 2020
When is Raksha Bandhan Festival?
The normal occurrence of the Raksha
Bandhan festival is on the full moon day in the month of Shravana from the
Hindu calendar.
Although these dates vary every year, this
year it will fall on 3rd August, 2020.
Why is this Festival celebrated?
This festival
is celebrated to establish the bond between a brother and a sister.
On this day,
the sister ties a thread called ‘Rakhi’ to
her brother's wrist. These days, this even is also celebrated between sisters who
tie a ‘Rakhi’ to each other to celebrate the bond that siblings share.
The whole
purpose is to promise each other that they shall always be there for each other
through thick & thin.
Is Raksha
Bandhan (Rakhi) a Public Holiday?
When the word festival comes to mind, the
average working class Indian imagines themselves enjoying sip of tea, relaxing
and blaming their workplace for their unfair treatment but Raksha Bandhan
(Rakhi) is an optional holiday.
Some employees may choose to take the day
off on this day, however, most offices and businesses remain open.
Some awesome Raksha Bandhan quotes:
"My sisters
have taught me how to live."
-George Wasserstein.
"Sometimes
being a brother is even better than being a superhero."
-Marc Brow.
It’s
hard to be responsible, adult and sensible all the time. How good it is to have
a sister whose heart is as young as your own.
– Pam Brown.
My sister taught me everything I
really need to know, and she was only in sixth grade at the time.
– Linda Sunshine.
“We
often disagree, fight and argue. But that doesn’t change my love for you.
Wishing you a happy Raksha Bandhan”
